Another Week Another Collab For On Running

Last week On Running launched their first ever lifestyle shoe with tennis God, Roger Federer. Well this week, they’re at it again, partnering with high end luxury Danish brand, Bang & Olufsen to launch the limited edition Beoplay E8 Sport earphones.

Both brands are renowned for elegant design and maximal performance, Bang & Olufsen being pioneers in crafting beautiful audio products, and On with their minimalist running footwear. This intersection between music and running has always been profound with brands such as Beats tapping into the fitness industry with their sports products, so what’s different this time?

The launch coincides with the release of On’s Cloudboom. A lightweight, carbon-fiber-infused shoe engineered for fast marathons/road races, and are the Swiss brand’s answer to Nike’s industry-leading ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%.

On’s Co-Founder and multiple Ironman winner, Olivier Bernhard said of the collaboration;

“Both running and listening to music can shape how we see the world. The two go hand-in-hand. The team at Bang & Olufsen share our passion for deepening these very human experiences through expertly engineered products. When the opportunity to combine our expertise came up, it was an easy decision.”

The design of both the shoe and the earphones compliment each other beautifully, but to enhance that relationship even further, On and B&O have created a unique and powerful 8D Marathon Audio Experience (below). A guided meditative session to take you through the sounds and sensations of a marathon (without the burning calf pain). With a philosophy similar to that of District Vision, an sports eyewear company based in New York and champion of meditation, On believes in the power of psychological preparation as well as the physical.

On their website Dr Michael Gervais, a performance psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working with elite athletes and teams, says;

“We hope this audio experience will not only serve as a powerful marathon preparation tool, but as motivation and encouragement for you to crush it out there. Whether you’re a marathon veteran or marathon hopeful – this is for you. And if you’ve never run a marathon before? Well, perhaps next time you put on your running shoes, you’ll do so with new intention.”

With On’s recent collaborations, they are fast becoming the industry powerhouse the founders set out to be. And if it’s a sign of things to come, I personally can’t wait.
