Salomon Creates Dream Team To Unify Branding

Last week, esteemed outdoor brand Salomon unveiled a brand refresh, designed to honour their 75 year history and futureproof the brand for another 75.

Enlisting the help of former Salomon Snowboarding star David Benedek with Ricardo Ferrol who run one of two external design teams, the other run by Hugo Hoppman, a German creative director, plus their own internal design team (doesn’t that just sound like the coolest team!) Salomon have created a simple and sleek wordmark.

Many people might look at the update and wonder whether the slight ‘tweaks’ were worth the effort or money however, with the brand evolving gradually over the past 75 years venturing into new areas, a simplified logo and brand identity is just what is needed to create a feeling of unity across their offering.

“This new visual identity is a great manifestation of our brand relaunch and true to our brand history and personality. The final design feels so natural and obvious, it is the best result the design team could hope for!“ - David Farcot, Creative Director for Salomon Snow Sports

The brand has also worked with prestigious advertising agency DDB Paris to create the “Tomorrow is Yours” campaign, with launch film and posters that show the exciting things that can happen when adventure, the outdoors and top quality products come together.

The brief, which was to reassert Salomon’s position as a leader by inspiring new generations who are passionate about outdoor sports seems timely with a younger demographic now taking up more extreme sports to combat the monotony of everyday, 9-5 worklife.

The results are a beautiful and up-to-date amalgam that capitalise on the growing success that is the rise of technical apparel, and reminds Salomon’s longer standing followers that the brand is pushing for excellence in all areas, to accompany their first-class products and content output. The next 75 years are going to be super interesting for the brand, that’s for sure.
