Saucony Gives Mindless Scrolling The Finger With 2024 Running Challenge

Ever wondered how far you scroll in a year? Well, to save you an extra few meters Saucony have given us the answer as they look to tackle this mindless epidemic with their Marathumb Challenge.

Research conducted by HarrisX, showed that on average we are scrolling around 132km or 3 marathons a year and it’s likely a large percentage of that is superflous. So, to encourage us all to get off our phones and move a little more, American running brand, Saucony have launched the Marathumb Challenge in which you can earn rewards by moving your feet more than your feed.

The challenge begins on Monday 22nd January, and runs for 6 weeks. At the end of each week those who run further than they scroll will be eligible for Saucony rewards, from exclusive merch to discount codes on Saucony products. Users simply download an app which will compare steps they take with the distance they scroll, the bar charts tracking “Your Feet” versus “Your Feed.”

The challenge is cleverly coupled with the launch of the Saucony Ride 17, a multipurpose shoe designed for both everyday running and general activity. It comes in 4 colourways for men and 4 for women, so go get them, get off this website and start moving before your scrolling total gets too overwhelming!
