The First Ever Internet Trail

The Internet Trail is here! A collection of the best running content we’ve stumbled across from around the web.

Whether it’s a new shoe release that has us looking longingly into our bank accounts, our favourite YouTubers YouTubing, or a pro putting our pathetic new year’s resolutions to shame we’ll keep digging so you can keep enjoying. It’s all-out internet endurance, and it’s all for you. You’re welcome!

How I run safely and avoid injury | Dan Whitehead

First up, the return of perhaps our favourite YouTuber, Dan Whitehead. A laid back, humble Australian ultrarunner combining great running content with beautiful cinematography. In his latest video he shows us how to run efficiently as to avoid injury. Sounds dull right? Wrong! It’s as watchable and inspiring as every other Dan Whitehead video. In all honestly, this recommendation is more about the fact he’s regularly making videos again, more than this video alone. We bloody love it!

Tracksmith Made Running Culture Something You Can Buy | Outside Online

In this article, Martin Fritz Huber takes a deep dive in to Tracksmith, the American-born, heritage running brand. But rather than just detailing their genesis, he questions their Ivy League inspirations and whether it provides the inclusivity that running needs right now amidst the cultural events that have shaken the globe in the past year. It’s a fascinating read epitomising Tracksmith’s mission to be authentic and committed to the running community.

The Original - Unisex T-shirt | Circle Sportswear

We came across Paris brand Circle Sportswear on Instagram this week. They position themselves as “the brand for sustainable athletes on the move”, and their garments are designed to reduce any environmental impact. Everything from their textiles or packaging to offering bicycle delivery to local customers help create truly circular products. There is nothing to dislike about this brand and I haven’t even mentioned their beautifully simple t-shirt, The Original with a “Protect our playground” motif on the back. A very tempting alternative to the usual, mainstream brands.

ULTRABOOST 21 | Adidas

Adidas have just released the latest edition of the iconic ULTRABOOST franchise which promises to deliver unprecedented energy return in every stride. The ULTRABOOST 21 features 6% more BOOST with a larger midsole and dramatic heel curve. It also boasts a PRIMEKNIT upper which offers more support, more movement and is created using a recycled material of at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic, which as always, we’re 100% here for. In their press release Adidas didn’t specify which occasion these shoes are best suited to. We’re assuming an everyday training shoe but I guess we’ll have to take the financial hit to find out. After all, there are worse looking shoes to splash out on!

Your Best Photos of 2020 | Strava

The changing of the year means one thing. More and more brands poorly attempting to execute a Spotify Year in Review style wrap-up of the 365 days past. Yes I’m looking at you Monzo! But Strava have it right. Both with their Year in Sport and their best photos of the year competition. Of which, feature some breathtaking landscapes, poignant portraits, all with the sporting essence you’d expect from Strava. If you want to feel insecure about your Instagram it’s well worth a look!

Project Carbon X 2 | Hoka One One

Forget Couch to 5K or Dry January, Hoka are putting all of our pathetic new year resolutions to shame by announcing that 40 elite ultrarunners will take on the men’s and women’s 100K world records (which stand at 6:09:14 and 6:33:11 respectively). Top of the billing is ultrarunning icon, Coconino Cowboy and all-round cool cat, Jim Walmsley who managed to break the 50 mile record in the previous edition of the race. With the updated Carbon X 2, here’s hoping Jim or any of the other athletes can go all the way this year. The event takes place on 23rd January in both Arizona and Japan. Stay tuned to Hoka’s social channels to find out where to view.

That’s all folks! Stay tuned for the next Internet Trail.
